Students Should Have

• A fair comprehension
• Can communicate verbally
• Enough vocabulary to do well academically

Students should be able to

• Give opinions w/ reasons, make comparisons, summarize
• Display higher order language, synthesize, analyze, evaluate, & persuade
• Identify main ideas & details
• Use academic & appropriate vocabulary
• Progress listening, speaking, reading & writing skills w/a better comprehension

Teacher Should Do

• Vocabulary Development- Academic vocabulary and literacy should be a focus
• Structure group discussion
• Provide a variety of reading materials and opportunities to read
• Offer a variety of realistic writing opportunities
• Allow students to utilize and become familiar with technology and other resource materials
